Kiwi Energy values their continued partnership with Transportation Alternatives and is honored to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause. The company is very pleased to announce that they will be sponsoring this year’s NYC Century Bike Tour for the fourth year.

Since 1973, by developing sustainable, efficient ways of navigating through the city, Transportation Alternatives has ushered the transformation of New York City’s transportation network. The organization’s efforts include various large-scale biking events curated for riders of all levels, including the NYC Century Bike Tour. As the nation’s only all-urban 100-mile bike tour option, Transportation Alternatives prides the NYC Century Bike Tour on being one of the most unique bike tours offered in the United States because all of the routes were designed to showcase the interconnectivity of the different neighborhoods in New York City and demonstrate how commuting by bike can actually be quite easy and safe.

Devised to reveal the diversity of New York’s neighborhoods and how to navigate through them safely, New York residents and tourists are encouraged to join this year’s ride to help support NYC’s #1 safe street advocate. Interested parties can choose from a 15, 25, 35, 55, 75, or 100-mile bike ride, all of which begin at either Central Park or Prospect Park. Riders, family, and friends are also invited to end the day at the NYC Century Festival in Central Park, where they can celebrate, refuel, and relax after the ride with treats, giveaways, and food.

This year, riders can even take an extra step to support Transportation Alternatives by telling family and friends that they’re raising money for the organization, and directing them to donate at their fundraising page. The top fundraiser will receive two tickets to the annual TransAlt Streets for People Party! Contact Samantha at samantha.eaton@transalt.org with any questions or to sign-up.

Sustainability is at the core of Kiwi Energy’s values, not only as it applies to its business operations, but as it applies to its people and the community as well. Kiwi Energy strives to help build a mindful and healthy local community by providing sustainable energy solutions and bringing together individuals who value wellness through their support of and involvement at events such as the NYC Century Bike Tour.

“There truly is no better way to advocate for safer streets than by supporting organizations like Transportation Alternatives. The NYC Century Bike Tour is a great vehicle for New Yorkers and tourists to show their support of helping to create better biking, walking, and public transit for the community; all while enjoying one of the most exciting bike adventures in the country.” – Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations, Kiwi Energy.

About Transportation Alternatives

With 140,000 active supporters and committees of activists working locally in every borough, Transportation Alternatives works to reclaim New York City streets for biking, walking and public transit. Since its founding in 1973, TransAlt has paved the way for remarkable changes in New York City’s transportation infrastructure and culture, including the extraordinary growth of commuting by bicycle and the launch of Citi Bike. Through consistent and focused advocacy, TransAlt has advanced “complete street” redesigns with protected bike lanes, dedicated bus lanes and public plazas, and has also worked for more equitable Vision Zero traffic enforcement across the five boroughs, including speed safety cameras to protect children at every school.
